A dirty air filter can reduce your gas mileage up to 7%. With most vehicles, it is recommended that you change it every 12,000-15,000 miles (consult your owner’s manual to be sure). In the meantime, you can keep your filter clean with a quick vacuuming to help remove some of the build-up. Simply remove the air filter, tap off excess dust, and use a vacuum hose to suck out loose debris.
