If you’re a seasoned couponer, chances are you’ve run across an empty shelf or two in your time. When this happens, be sure to get a rain check! Stores are required to make a good faith effort to keep sale items in stock. When they run out, a rain check entitles you to the current sale price at a future date when the shelves are restocked – even if the sale is over. Most often, rain checks are valid for 2-4 weeks, and will specify the item, the price and the quantity you would like to buy. Store policies vary, and a few items do not qualify for rain checks, such as Black Friday deals or other special purchase items. Check the fine print of sale ads and shelf tags if you’re not sure.
