My Thrift Store Lantern Revamp!

I love Pottery Barn lanterns.
…and Ballard Designs.
Which is why I was so geeked to find this little number at my local thrift store.
Ain’t she pretty?
Love the cobwebs.  Very rustic.
After seeing Pretty Handy Girl redo a similar lantern I was inspired to give this a try myself!
So I scarfed this baby up for a whopping $.75…
…then ran over to Walmart and bought a can of Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint.
After a thorough cleaning, I gave it a couple of good coats.
What do you think?
I’m pretty happy with the result.  My total cost including spray paint was less than $5!  Compare with $40-$50 for the Pottery Barn or Ballard versions, we’re talking 90% savings.  My kind of deal!
It’s been awhile since I’ve been motivated to do some serious thrifting.  But after finding this treasure, I think they’ll be seeing a lot of me!

Fabric Wallcovering Tutorial

I was so excited to see this Fabric Wallcovering Tutorial over at The Thriftress. She used this technique to spruce up a small wall in her laundry room, and I think it looks amazing!

I can’t wait to use this idea to add color to my boring Ikea desk, which I’ve been wanting to do for a long time but wasn’t exactly sure how to go about it.

My hubby will be thrilledthat I have another project on our “to-do” list!

Extreme Makeover: FAMILY DOLLAR Edition

My bedroom has been in sore need of a makeover for awhile now, so I decided to swing over to the Family Dollar Home Sale and see what I could get with the new $5 off $25 printable coupon.

I was inspired by The Sunday Baker to make some wall art using free vintage printables from The Graphics Fairy.  So I found some nice matted frames and replaced the artwork with these lovely butterfly prints.  I just love how it turned out!

I was also looking for affordable and cute craft storage options, so I was thrilled to find these little baskets for $1 each!

Here’s what I ended up with:
(2) Wall Art with frames @ $3 each = $6
(2) Silver 5×7 photo frames @ $2 each = $4
(2) Table lamps @ $6 each = $12
(1) Curtain rod 28″-48″ (not shown) $1
(2) Willow storage baskets @ $1 each = $2
=$25
$5/$25 printable
Final Price $20 for everything shown plus a curtain rod!
