Well I’m home from my whirlwind trip to LA with lots of stories to tell! Thanks to all of you who encouraged me and prayed for me – I had a fantastic time and met some wonderful people!
Early Thursday morning, I awoke to this beautiful view from my hotel window…
Then it was off to TJ Maxx for breakfast and schmoozing with other great bloggers. I was one of only three mom bloggers. The rest were fashion and beauty folks. I was a little nervous at first, but they were all so lovely! In fact, the blogger in the forefront – Patrice from Afrobella was sweet enough to help me find an outfit!
Here is the lovely miss Alison Deyette sharing some of this seasons hottest styles.
News To Me: Did you know that most of the products carried by TJ Maxx are in-season designer labels? Here Alison holds up a dress purchased down the street at a designer store, and the same dress pulled off a rack in TJ Maxx. Check out the price difference below. TJ Maxx/Marshalls price: $39.99. Designer store down the street: $245!
Many stores have an area called The Runway, which contains the hottest labels and trends for the season.
Here I am with Alison.
What I learned:
I now think of off-price shopping just as I do couponing. When I go into Walgreens or CVS, I have a goal of filling my pantry and linen closet with necessities so they are there when I need them. My drug store purchases are essentially determined by what is available for the best possible price.
Same goes for off-price shopping. I maximize my savings by finding wardrobe basics at rock bottom prices. Since TJ Maxx gets new shipments daily, I might find the perfect black pencil skirt one week and a nice khaki jacket the next. The idea is to build a wardrobe of good quality items as they become available at the very best prices – Just say NO to retail!
Speaking of saying NO to retail prices – here’s a word to the wise: don’t forget your deodorant. The hotel gift shop does not take coupons!

glad you had a nice time Lori, it was great to meet you.
Lori, I enjoyed looking at all of your pictures and reading about your adventure in L.A! TJMaxx is my favorite store! I was just there this week and they were marking down "yellow tags" for a final clearance. I got jeans for ONE DOLLAR… for both myself and my daughter!! We came home with three huge bags of stuff, all for under $25! I enjoy you blog so much! You have linked me to many many freebies and excellent finds! Thank you, m'friend! Your Pal, Connie
