Help Your Favorite Walgreens Employee

April 28, 2009 · 5 comments

Last night I was on one of my daily Wags visits and was chatting with my favorite employee. She told me that when I purchase beauty items and check out with her at the cosmetics counter (makeup, hair care, soap, skin care, fragrances and Walgreens brand items) she gets a bonus at the end of the month based on the amount of sales she rings in! I had no idea!
If you have a favorite Wags employee who works at the beauty counter, be sure to help him/her by checking out with them whenever possible. My lady says they get an extra bonus this month for items found on the cosmetic counter. If you have coupons for these items that you don’t intend to use, why not “donate” them to your favorite cashier so she has an extra opportunity to get sales from other shoppers!

I’ve had a couple of the workers tell me this. My question is, do they get money based on my total OOP? or what it costs before coupons? If it is total OOP, I always feel bad because it looks like I would spend a lot but never do!

Good question – I’ll ask next time I see her. Last night I was using coupons and register rewards all over the place and she was excited to ring it all up. My guess is that since they are reimbursed for mq’s, it would be before mq’s. Not sure on RRs or wags coupons. I’ll let you know!

That explains why my cashier is old school. She is always checking on customers making sure they have everything they need and offering to check them out when they are done. I like going to her because she has no problem with the coupons and usually has no line.

My fav cashierS both work at the cosmetic counter… They both have told me they ALL have a quota and get penalized for stuff NOT rang up at their registers… make up, lotions soaps and ect the are rung up at a different register counts AGAINST the cosmetic cashier, same with photo and groceries ect. I go to them because they NEVER give me a problem with anything… and I like them. I don’t care what department the stuff has came out of… if they are there I go to them!

I asked our beauty clerk about this: They are assigned products each week and month that they are to encourage. The incentive pay (PM) is usually a flat dollar amount for each product sold but some items like Revlon and fragrances are a percentage. Coupon use does not affect their PMs but sometimes when a product is “on sale” it does.
