Keep your eyes peeled for some super low prices on strawberries continuing through the first weeks of June. It’s a great time to stock up and freeze the extra for making yummy desserts or freezer jam. A few days ago, my daughter and her friend Coan joined me in the kitchen to make this easy delicious treat.
Ingredients:
4 c. strawberries, cleaned and sliced
1 c. orange juice
1 c. water
1/2 c. sugar

Combine orange juice, water and sugar in a saucepan and cook until boiling, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and cook for 2-3 minutes until sugar dissolves.

Add sliced strawberries and continue to cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and use a mixer or blender to puree until strawberries are thoroughly combined.

Allow to cool, and pour into a shallow pan. Place in freezer for 3-6 hours. Serve.
This will be a hit with your strawberry lovers. It’s an easy staycation activity to get the kids involved in the kitchen

What a fun and moderately healthy dessert option too! Maybe even some local honey would be delicious instead of the sugar too?
Would you be okay with me linking to this activity in my July activity calendar for kids? It looks so yummy…and easy for the kiddos to make!
Let me know!
Yes, thanks Stacie!
