Easy DIY Soft Scrub Recipe

Here is a great (and affordable) recipe for making your own Soft Scrubber. This is one of the best cleaners I’ve tried for wet areas that are susceptible to mold and mildew like sinks, tubs and tile surfaces. It contains Vitamin C, which changes the pH and creates an inhospitable environment for most molds. I also love it for shining our stainless kitchen sink.

If you’ve been thinking about creating your own all natural cleaners, this is a good place to start.  You can get castile soap from Vitacost for $6.54 (from $11.29) for a 32 oz. bottle.  Sign up HERE for a free account and get a $10 credit, making this (an another $3.46 in products) FREE – just pay $4.99 shipping.  You’ll need this soap for making other cleaners, so it’s a good thing to have on hand.

Soft Scrubber Ingredients:

  • 1/3 c. Liquid Castile Soap
  • 2 c. Baking Soda
  • 10 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oils
  • 5 Vitamin C Tablets, crushed
  • Water

Directions:

Mix first four ingredients together, then gradually add water until you get a soft scrub consistency.  Pour into container.  I used a Methods Dish Soap container, but you could use any squirt top container.  Be sure to shake well before each use.
That’s it!  Clean and enjoy!

Cost Breakdown:

Not too shabby, considering the store bought variety costs around $2.50. Even with a coupon we’re coming out ahead by making it ourselves, especially since the store brand does very little for tile mold issues.  I hope you get as much use out of this recipe as I do!
