DIY Self Watering Container

May 20, 2011 · 1 comment

I’ve been wanting one of those nifty Self Watering Planters for awhile now…but cheapskate thrifty gal that I am, I just haven’t been able to bring myself to pay the steep price tag.  Which is why I was so happy to find the DIY tutorial over at Too Much Time On My Hands.  Who knew they were this easy to make!

another great tip is to put a pile of ice cubes on your pots in the morning and as they melt, they will water the pot throughout the day. Be careful not to put the cubes against the plants stems, or it may cause damage. That way you are not overwatering, which can cause rot and delay fruit/veggie production.
