I love your blog and follow you faithfully. I found a great deal that maybe you would like to share. Walmart has Energizer batteries on sale for $6.79. When you buy two specially marked packages (with the blue sticker with yellow writing on it) they have codes redeemable for $10 gift cards when you buy two (have two codes). You can get up to $40 in gift cards per household. So I bought 8 packs of batteries for a total of about $54.32 and I will get $40 in Walmart gift cards.

Thanks for all your hard work!

I am making another attempt at meal planning. Your way of doing it I think will work for me. What has thrown me off in the past is two things. Leftovers and having to abandon the plan for life reasons. My question is…if you have left overs from one of your planned meals, do you push your meal schedule ahead and have the leftovers the next night or how do you handle it? My other question is…sometimes life/schedule changes get in the way, if you have to abandon a planned meal one night, do you cook it the next night or do you stick with the schedule?

Hi Andrea – good questions. I have four growing boys, so occasions when I have leftovers are fewer than a typical family. But when I do have them, they generally get eaten for lunches.

I have found it helps to have a few nights throughout the month when I don’t have a meal planned. In this way, I am sort of planning for the unexpected. Here’s a recent example. Last night we were suppose to have carnitas, but we had to run to the mall for a choir wardrobe emergency for my daughter and ended up eating on the go. Since I already purchased tortillas and cheese (perishables) I needed to find a way to work them back into the plan in the next few days. Next Tuesday is a day I purposely left empty on my meal plan, so I moved carnitas to Saturday, and move my Saturday meal to Tuesday.

So the short answer is that I leave 3-4 nights/month without a meal plan, and then rework the missed meals in based on the shelf life of the perishables involved. Hope that helped.

saw your post today about savings on Sharpies at Staples; however, don’t know how to get the $1.50/1 coupon that was in the SS insert 3/9/14???

Hi Lyn – If you didn’t get the Sunday newspaper on 3/9 then you don’t have this one. I’ll keep my eyes open for a printable version, but those are pretty rare.

My youth group is trying to collect stuffed animals/school supplies for orphans in Haiti and I was wondering if you knew anywhere we could get free school supplies? Or really cheap ones in the bulk. Thank you!

I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. We have been thinking of road schooling as well for about a year now. We have five children as well, ages 3-11. Are you traveling with all your kids? If so, what kind of vehicle are you driving? We have an excursion that can pull a travel trailer but would prefer a fifth wheel for space. How did you decide on how many clothes you were going to bring and where did you put them? What are your plans for laundry? What are you planning to use for internet? We have always homeschooled our children using Abeka online academy. Did you end up selling your house? If not did you rent it out while you are away? I was amazed when I saw this blog as it sounds just like us! Thanks for your time.

Hello, I was wondering if you had any suggestions for me. We have a weekly budget of $100 or even sometimes $70 a week for a family of 5. I would love to start a stock pile and start paying off student loans and some piles up debt. Thank you

I love your blog and tell so many people about you. I am new to couponing and was wondering, how do I print coupons from an IPAD. I have a wireless printer but the coupon sites ask for Java to print them. Thank you for all the help you give to the couponers.

Your chicken noodle soup recipe is so delicious. It is a family favorite of ours. I’m compiling a family recipe book and would like to know if you’d allow me to include your recipe as one of our favorites. The book is not a fundraiser or for profit. Please let me know how you would like credit assigned, if allowable.

    Thank you!

I would love to speak to you about running some of our branded advertising campaigns from Fortune 1000 advertisers that all pay on a CPM basis.

We have a lot of great branded advertisers that I think would make a great fit for your site and help you maximize the amount of money you are earning on your site. I know we could help you make more money than any of your existing ad networks and would love to set up a test and prove our capabilities.

Please let me know when we can jump on a quick call to discuss in more detail.

My best wishes to you and the rest of your team.

That’s an awesome goal! We are looking at land about an hour north of Nashville as a possible homestead site. Maybe we will be neighbors 🙂
