Christmas Tradition Ideas

December 8, 2009 · 0 comments

Redeeming The Season (published by Focus on the Family) is filled with simple, fun and affordable ideas to establish Christian traditions during Christmas.

One tradition we’ve adopted from this book is to take 25 plain Christmas ornaments and write an attributes of God on each one. Then we hang one per day from December 1st-25th. We talk about what each characteristic means to us as believers and then say a little thank you prayer. A few examples:
-Love
-Merciful
-Self Sufficient
-Just
-Good
-Holy
-Faithful
-Sovereign
-Wise
Another idea is to list the names of God and share what they mean (do a google search for “names of God”):
-I Am
-Abba
-El Shaddai
-Comforter
-The Rock
-Creator

I recently found THIS post by Oh My Crafts that shows how to use vinyl lettering on Christmas bulbs. The perfect idea for this project. I can’t wait to redo our ornaments.
