Recently I was given the opportunity to view a portion of the new DVD series by Joyce Meyer entitled Battlefield of the Mind and share my thoughts with you. This is based on her NY Times bestselling book by the same name.
Through her daily television program, Joyce has shown me through scripture how to transform my thinking. I’ve mentioned before on this blog that I tend to be a glass-half-empty kinda gal. I guess for a long time in my life, I had resigned myself to that. I really didn’t realize there was anything I could do about it – until I started watching Joyce’s show a few years ago. Her down to earth teaching changed my life. What really helped me was to see Joyce reveal her own struggles and shortcomings with the audience. Her scriptural knowledge and passion for the Lord is obvious. But she also shares her falling on her face moments with us, so we know there is hope for us too!
As a victim of childhood abuse, Joyce has had a lot to overcome in her life. Personality traits that arose as a result of her childhood have not been easily transformed. She shares that with us. She also shares how she is able to overcome it by showing us how to depend on the Lord and apply His Word to these issues. This is the core message of Battlefield of the Mind. Highlights of her teaching:
~What’s Been on Your Mind Lately: learn about mental strongholds and our weapons against them
~Think About What You Are Thinking About: One of Joyce’s famous sayings is “Where the mind goes, the man follows”. This portion teaches you how to change your focus.
~What Would Jesus Think: What does scripture tell us about the mind of Christ and how can we learn from that?
~Think Your Way Out of Bondage
